MIXED USE BUILDING 2050
Athens, Greece

Project chosen by the Technology Component for biannual publication of the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Noted for innovation in the use of wood as the main structural element.

The project

The project seeks to create an enclosure with the characteristics of the habitat of the 2050 habitat in the city of Athens, capital of Greece. For this, it was decided to design an ecological complex, built on concrete foundations and wooden porches, with vegetation inside and a mixture of uses that create a  city within the city  with public and productive spaces that also promote a sense of community and neighborhood thinking about the habitat of 2050.

Level I

A permeable level is created with 24-hour commercial uses to give life to the place throughout the day and offer services to the existing context as well. This first floor is integrated with a public space whose main element is the river, so different border activities are created in order to give life to this natural element that gives the project its natural character.

Level II

On the second floor, a large platform is created that articulates with the public space of the river, bringing the vegetation and views of nature to this commercial second floor. Food and beverage shops are located there looking for permanent activities and an invitation to enjoy the entire natural context and the building itself outside.
